About this video

Every rule of Euchre taught through a single hand played start to finish: the twenty-four card deck, how tricks and following suit work, the turned-up card and why ordering it up hands a trump to the dealer, the second round of bidding, and the rule that catches everybody — the two bowers. Watch the jack of diamonds: the board greys it out when diamonds are led, because with hearts as trump it is not a diamond any more. Two tricks later the same card wins.

Learn Euchre through a complete hand: the 24-card deck, both rounds of bidding, following suit, the bowers and scoring.

Follow the jack of diamonds after hearts become trump. Its effective suit changes, so it cannot follow a diamond lead. Later in the same hand it wins a trick as the left bower.
